Pad prep for pole barns and garages, plus quarry-direct topsoil, fill dirt, and road base, handled by the crew that calls Monument home.
Mountainside ER isn’t just another contractor passing through Monument, it’s where we park our trucks every night. Our yard sits at the base of the Rampart Range, and site prep and landscape materials delivery in Monument is the job we started this company to do. Pad compaction for a new pole barn, a load of screened topsoil for a backyard regrade, whatever the property needs, we’re minutes away, not an hour up I-25.
Monument is the anchor of the Tri-Lakes area, sitting at close to 7,000 feet where Monument Creek comes down off the Rampart Range on its way toward Colorado Springs. The town takes its name from the limestone outcrop known as Monument Rock, and that same rocky, uneven ground shows up in yard after yard we work. Pole barn pads and driveway bases here need real compaction, not just a rented plate tamper and a bit of luck.
Because we’re already local, a call about a pad or a load of fill dirt doesn’t turn into a half-day wait for a crew to drive in. We can usually walk the site the same week.

Compacting the pad and delivering the material are two different trades almost everywhere else. Here, it’s one crew, one schedule, and one number to call.
Our super tandem trucks haul 25 to 30 tons a load, straight from the quarry. That’s close to double a standard dump truck, so a big order still means fewer trucks parked in your driveway.
Rock close to the surface and clay that swells with moisture are just how it is at this elevation. We compact structural fill in lifts so it actually holds instead of settling unevenly.
Our yard is in Monument. We’re not driving up from Colorado Springs or down from Denver to reach your site, we’re already close by.
Garage pads, yard topsoil, and material for a fresh landscape design.
Pad prep and bulk material scheduled together for new-build timelines.
Quarry-direct pricing on 25+ ton orders, our best margins in town.
Outbuilding pads and material runs out toward Palmer Lake and Black Forest.
Site prep and bulk material for shared-lot and redevelopment work.
Decomposed granite and rock sit close to the surface across much of Monument, with pockets of clay mixed in. A pad that isn’t over-excavated and compacted properly heaves within a season. We build in lifts, matched to what’s actually under the property, not a one-size spec.

Sitting nearly 1,000 feet higher than Colorado Springs, Monument holds onto snow longer and sees heavier spring runoff. Grading a pad or driveway wrong here means water pooling against a foundation, or draining onto a neighbor’s lot instead of toward Monument Creek where it belongs. The Town of Monument keeps stormwater and drainage guidance on file for exactly this reason, and we grade with it in mind.
New subdivisions keep filling in around Monument’s original downtown, and each one needs pads for outbuildings and fresh material for the yards around them. Between that growth and the acreage properties further out toward Black Forest, steady pad prep and material work is simply part of doing business here.
